Day 1:
Arrival in Yaoundé and met at the airport by our driver to transfer you to your accommodation.
Day 2:
We drive East across Cameroon to Batouri, a colonial mining town where we will stay overnight. We will drive through contrasting countryside en route; pineapple plantations, forests, colonial towns, and Bantu villages.
Day 3:
After breakfast depart for the forested East, driving through Bantu villages en route. The Baka are the original inhabitants of this region of Africa and have lived on the margins of Cameroonian society since the 15th Century. We will stay overnight in Yokadouma.
Day 4:
After breakfast we drive to the Central African Republic border. We cross the magnificent Sangha River by pirogue and undergo visa formalities before continuing onwards to Bayanga, on the edge of Dzanga Sangha Reserve.
Day 5:
In the morning we visit a family of Western Gorillas. In the afternoon we visit a large group of mangabeys - up to 300 can be seen in the area.
Day 6:
Today we visit the Dzanga Bai where we will have the chance to observe between 20-100 forest elephants that regularly feed in this area. Bongos, sitatungas, forest buffaloes and many bird species can also be seen in the Dzanga Bai area.
They are usually very elusive animals but Dzanga Bai is a great place to spot them as they come out of the forest to 'mine' for minerals.
Day 7:
Today we will visit the village of Bayanga where we have the chance to visit the school, radio broadcasting centre and more.
Day 8:
After breakfast we depart and cross the Sangha River by pirogue to reach Cameroon. After checking into our accommodation in the border town of Limbongo, we will visit a Pygmy camp where we will get to know more about the life of the pygmie tribes. Return to Limbongo in the late afternoon.
Day 9:
After breakfast we depart for Yokadouma - a timber town, founded by German explorers in the 14th Century.
Day 10:
Drive through the Sangha Tri-National Park area (a Unesco Heritage Site) en route to Batouri where we will stay overnight.
Day 11:
Return to Yaounde where we'll have dinner before transferring to the airport.
